My name is Dan Laforest and I'm a driver at Superior Propane. I recently had the pleasure of driving the pink bulk truck Superior recently added to their fleet in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. I have to admit I wasn't quite sure what type of reaction to expect from the public and customers. It didn't take long to realize that I was in for some very positive feedback. It only took an hour or so from when I left Guelph that other trucks were flashing their lights and honking their horns as they passed by me. Even the police were flashing their roof lights as they went by. But nothing compared to the experience I had the following morning. As I stopped at Tim Horton's for a coffee in Carleton Place, an OPP officer approached me in line and asked if I was driving the pink truck outside. I answered yes and we proceeded outside to the truck where I noticed he parked his cruiser. He proceeded to tell me that his wife was battling breast cancer and was currently receiving chemo treatment. He said the hardest part was trying to keep his two young children to stay positive. He then grabbed his camera from his car and asked if I could take his picture with the truck. "I want to show my kids this picture to remind them that other people are thinking of THEIR mom and other sick moms all over" he said. "Seeing efforts like Superior Propane has gone to in order to help cancer victims all over helps families like mine stay positive, and I thank you for that" he went on to say. I've been proud to drive for Superior Propane for almost fifteen years, and in those fifteen year I've never felt more pride than I did that day. Thanks for the opportunity and I look forward to participating in future events with this wonderful concept of community support.
